Gastroscopy

Gastroscopy is a procedure during which a thin, flexible videocamera (endoscope) is inserted into the upper digestive tract for endoscopic examination. During the procedure, we examine the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum.

During the examination, it is also possible to obtain biopsy material from the aforementioned organs, remove polyps, perform endoscopic hemostasis, identify benign and malignant mucosal and submucosal formations, and treat them endoscopically by resection. Additionally, bariatric-type procedures, such as gastric balloon placement, can be performed.

If desired, the procedure can be performed under brief sedation (anesthesia).
