(+995 32) 225 1991The ACLS Instructor course is the official American Heart Association (AHA) program that authorizes a healthcare professional to teach Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider courses and to issue internationally recognized electronic certification (eCard). The course has three mandatory components: an online module (ACLS Instructor Essentials Online), an approximately 9-hour hands-on session at our center, and monitoring during your first live course. A current AHA ACLS Provider certification is required.
Duration | Online module + hands-on session + monitoring |
Hands-on session | Approximately 9 hours (approximately 10 hours including breaks) |
Certification validity | 2 years |
Price | 1500 GEL |
Language | Georgian, with course materials in English |
Location | MediClubGeorgia, Tbilisi, Georgia |
Teaching ACLS is the highest level of instructional competence in emergency cardiovascular care. The course is designed for professionals who are already fully confident with ACLS algorithms, work in a critical care or emergency setting, and are ready to teach a team.
This course is designed for:
Intensivists and critical care specialists
Anesthesiologists
Emergency medicine physicians
Cardiologists
Emergency medical service physicians and paramedics
Experienced intensive care unit nurses
Heads of simulation centers and continuing education programs
What this status gives you: the number of ACLS instructors in Georgia is small, while demand for ACLS certification in clinics keeps growing, particularly at institutions working toward international accreditation. This creates a real professional and commercial opportunity.
# | Prerequisite | Details |
1 | Age | At least 18 years old |
2 | Professional status | You must be licensed or credentialed in a healthcare occupation in which ACLS skills fall within your scope of practice |
3 | Provider status | A current AHA ACLS Provider certification (eCard) |
4 | Practical skills | Confident command of ACLS skills: high-quality BLS, airway management, rhythm recognition, defibrillation and cardioversion, pharmacology, and team leadership |
5 | Application form | A completed Instructor Candidate Application |
6 | Alignment | An agreement with MediClubGeorgia as your primary Training Center |
7 | Atlas account | Registration at atlas.heart.org using the same email address to which your Provider eCard was issued |
BLS Instructor status is not required. To become an ACLS Instructor, the AHA requires a current ACLS Provider status, not a BLS instructor card. However, teaching BLS Provider courses independently requires separate BLS Instructor status. Many candidates complete both disciplines together, as this significantly broadens their teaching opportunities.
You complete the registration form, our coordinator contacts you within 2 business days, verifies the validity of your ACLS Provider certification, and sends you the Instructor Candidate Application. Your agreement (alignment) with MediClubGeorgia is also established at this stage.
An independent, self-paced online course on the AHA platform at elearning.heart.org. It covers the Core module and the ACLS-specific module.
A score of at least 84% is required to pass the exam. The exam follows the open resource principle. On successful completion, you receive a certificate of completion, which is required for admission to the hands-on session.

Debriefing is at the heart of the program. The largest block of the day, approximately 200 minutes, is devoted to prebriefing, debriefing, and leading Megacode scenarios. This is precisely the skill that separates a good clinician from a good instructor: setting up the scenario correctly, observing the team, and then running a structured, non-judgmental discussion that lets participants discover the gap for themselves.
The session ends with a written exam, where a score of at least 84% is required.
The first ACLS Provider course you teach is observed by a member of our Training Center Faculty, who assesses you using the AHA Instructor Monitor Tool.
Deadline: monitoring must take place within 6 months of completing the hands-on session.
The assessment areas are Course Delivery, Testing and Remediation, and Professionalism. Administrative competencies are assessed separately using the renewal checklist. For ACLS, particular attention is given to leading Megacode scenarios, applying team dynamics principles, and the quality of debriefing.
The completed Instructor Monitor Tool is submitted to the Training Center within 10 business days of the monitored course.
Following successful monitoring, the center issues your instructor card within 10 business days of receiving the completed monitor form. The card's issue date is recorded as the month and year in which monitoring was completed.
You then receive your personal Instructor ID, complete your alignment in Atlas, and complete our internal orientation on administration and quality assurance.
ACLS is an advanced life support course and, unlike BLS, it is subject to additional administrative requirements.
Requirement | Details |
Course Director | For an instructor-led ACLS Provider course, the Course Director must be physically present on-site throughout the course. For blended learning, the AHA does not require a Course Director, although the Training Center may choose to require one for the skills session. |
Lead Instructor | Every Provider course must have a Lead Instructor who is present on-site and responsible for course logistics and quality. The Training Center Coordinator assigns the Lead Instructor. |
Specialty Faculty | A specialist (for example, an anesthesiologist for the airway module) may assist, with the prior approval of the Course Director. Their number may not exceed 50% of the total instructor staff, and they do not count toward the student-to-instructor ratio. Formal testing is conducted only by an AHA Instructor of the appropriate discipline. |
Minimum group size | A minimum of 3 students is required to open a course |
BLS card for students | The AHA does not require ACLS students to hold a current BLS Provider card, although they are expected to be proficient in BLS skills. The Training Center may impose this requirement itself. |
Megacode test | At the Course Director's discretion, students may use the ECC Handbook and the ECC algorithms during the Megacode skills test. |
Course price: 1500 GEL.

With AHA ACLS Instructor status, you teach ACLS Provider courses and issue official eCards, under either of two models.
You teach courses at our center using our equipment, our schedule, and our participant flow. We handle administration and card issuance.
You deliver training at your own clinic or at a partner organization, while certification issuance and quality control are handled through the MediClubGeorgia training center network (MCG ITC). See the full terms on the [Independent Instructor] page.
Please note that delivering an ACLS Provider course requires the appropriate equipment: a manikin with feedback, a rhythm simulator, and a defibrillator (including a tablet-based simulator that meets AHA criteria), airway management supplies, and practice medications. We will help you prepare the equipment list and verify its compliance.
The instructor card is valid for 2 years. For the full procedure, see the [Instructor Status Renewal] page.
# | Requirement |
1 | You must have taught at least 4 Provider courses within the past 2 years |
2 | You must have passed monitoring by Training Center Faculty |
3 | You must have completed an instructor update (ACLS Instructor Update) on the current guidelines |
4 | You must be aligned with a Training Center on the AHA platform |
5 | Your proficiency in Provider-level skills must be confirmed |
6 | You must have completed the administrative review of conflict of interest and the code of conduct. |
In exceptional circumstances (illness, injury, or an objective shortage of courses in your region), the 4-course requirement may be waived or extended at the discretion of the Training Center Coordinator, in consultation with AHA staff.
Faculty experienced in emergency medicine. Teaching is led by our Training Center Faculty (TCF), who bring real clinical and teaching experience in resuscitation.
A focus on debriefing. The ACLS instructor's primary tool is the post-scenario discussion. We treat this as a separate, structured teaching block rather than an add-on to the course.
Complete equipment. Manikins with feedback, rhythm simulators, defibrillator trainers, and airway management supplies, in the quantities recommended by the AHA.
Continuous support. Course planning, documentation, exam security, quality audits, and timely delivery of AHA updates.
A transparent process. You know from the outset which stages you need to complete and within what timeframes.
