Topics include: a brief overview of respiratory and cardiovascular system anatomy/physiology, adult/child/infant CPR with AED use, management of foreign body airway obstruction, ensuring airway patency with simple devices (oropharyngeal/nasopharyngeal airways, suction), oxygen delivery techniques (simple and reservoir masks, nasal cannula), artificial ventilation using pocket mask and bag-valve-mask (Ambu bag), wounds and bleeding, shock, life-threatening medical conditions (cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke, seizure, diabetes, asthma, anaphylaxis), systematic assessment of the victim (primary/secondary), trauma, burns, conditions caused by environmental factors (heat stroke, hypothermia, frostbite), poisoning and animal bites.
Effective performance of adult and child/infant CPR and safe use of AED
Ensuring airway patency with simple devices; selection and use of oxygen delivery methods, artificial ventilation using pocket mask and bag-valve-mask (Ambu bag)
Conducting primary/secondary assessment of the victim in field conditions
Primary management of head/spine, chest, abdomen, and extremity trauma
Practical methods of immobilization (splints, triangular bandages, short/long backboards)
Safe evacuation from the accident site
Management of emergency medical conditions and emergency situations caused by environmental factors
