(+995 32) 225 1991ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) is a course developed and accredited by the American College of Surgeons, currently implemented in more than 60 countries worldwide, including Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Due to its simple and systematic approach, the training course represents the safest and most reliable concept for emergency care of injured patients.
After completing the course, the practicing physician possesses the basic and essential knowledge to:
Assess the condition of an injured patient quickly and accurately;
Perform resuscitation and stabilization of the patient, taking priorities into account;
Determine situations when the patient's injuries and severity of condition exceed the resources and capabilities of the medical facility/physician;
Organize the patient's inter- or intrahospital transport;
Ensure continuous patient management until their transfer to the definitive care location.
The ATLS course duration is 2.5 days and includes rapid initial assessment of the injured patient and life-saving emergency interventions, reassessment, stabilization, and, when necessary, determining the need for patient referral/transport.
The course consists of a pretest and final test, core lectures, interactive scenario discussions, debates, practical sessions for developing surgical skills, and a final assessment of course mastery.
The course "Advanced Trauma Life Support" is accredited by the Ministry of Labor, Health, and Social Protection of Georgia (N0026). Accordingly, the participant is awarded 18 CME points.
Upon successful completion of the course, the participant receives a certificate.
ATLS is intended for surgeons, emergency physicians, intensivists, and anesthesiologists, i.e., all specialists in those fields who manage injured patients in the emergency department. Such multidisciplinary involvement enables physicians from the listed fields to work together according to a recognized protocol, significantly increasing the effectiveness of treating injured patients.
The course may also be elective for specialists in other disciplines and students of higher medical educational institutions.
Today, the ATLS method is considered the standard for "golden hour" trauma management, regardless of where it occurs, whether in an isolated regional medical facility or a high-level multiprofile treatment center.
